3 Reasons to Start Fresh
2 Ways to Design a Course Roadmap
1 Cringe-worthy sales page
With the recent Harvest Moon, I feel an energy shift in the air. It’s nature reminding us that this is the time for renewal and goal setting. It's an opportunity to hit refresh and start new. Ready to set some new goals?
Three Reasons to Start Fresh
#1 New Perspective, New Possibilities
If you find yourself stuck in the same routine, you could be missing new opportunities. Starting fresh gives you a chance to step back, reflect, and see things from a different perspective. This fresh outlook could open doors you didn’t even notice existed.
#2 Release the Past
Carrying around old mistakes, regrets, or unfulfilled goals can be exhausting. Starting fresh allows you to let go of what’s been holding you back and focus on what truly matters now. Releasing the past frees up space for new dreams and ideas.
#3 Boost Motivation and Energy
There’s something incredibly energizing about starting with a clean slate. When you set new goals and create new plans, it sparks excitement and motivation. That positive energy can fuel your progress and help you achieve things you once thought were out of reach.

Two Ways to Design a Course Roadmap
As a course creator, it’s easier to plan content and resources when you have a roadmap. It allows you to break down the course into manageable milestones and ensure you’re covering all necessary topics. It also helps your students understand what to expect and where they're headed, reducing confusion.
#1 Timeline Roadmap
Design a linear timeline showing course progression from start to finish.
- Each milestone is a point on the timeline with lessons or a task checklist
- Best for courses with set start and end points with sequential steps in between
- Use arrows or dotted lines to show the flow from one milestone to the next
#2 Step-by-Step Journey Map
Design a map that represents the course as a journey, with each milestone as a stop along the way.
- Best for courses that emphasize a personal or business transformation
- Use a road or path graphic to symbolize the journey
- Place each milestone along the path, with lessons displayed as checkpoints along the way
BONUS #3 Progress Bar or Ladder
Design a vertical or horizontal progress bar with each milestone as a step up the ladder
- Best for skill building courses
- Include lessons as smaller steps leading to each milestone
- As students complete lessons, they move up the ladder
BONUS #4 Circular Roadmap
Design a circular graphic depicting the course as a loop, symbolizing that each milestone connects to the next and forms a cohesive learning experience
- Best for courses where the learning outcomes build on each other in an iterative or continuous way
- Create a circle with milestones placed around the loop
- Include arrows showing how one lesson flows into the next
One Cringe-worthy sales page: an opinion piece
I often am asked to read over sales pages then offer input for improvement.
Since Chat GPT, Gemini, etc. became popular about a year ago, I've been seeing so many cut and paste sales pages.
Sure, it's easy to type in "write a sales page for me about x" and then cut and paste it, but I have to ask myself if the course creator read over the sales page before hitting Go Live.
A sales page should read as if you're talking to your friend, sharing the excitement of what you've built and the change it's going to make in their life.
Instead, a cut and paste AI sales page gives off a corporate feel that lacks the connection of human words that are not commonly used in normal conversation such as "fostering relationships" or "unleash your potential" or "this steps is crucial". All three terms scream that AI was used to write the page.
I'm not saying that AI should not be used to design sales pages. In fact, I encourage using AI to get started ....but only as an outline as to what to include on the page.
Bottom line, read over your sales page right now. Does every word sound like what you would use in everyday conversation? If not, you are likely repelling a percentage of buyers based on verbiage alone.
