Improve Your Business with 3-2-1.

  • 3 Things to delete from your About Page right now
  • 2 Cool New Kajabi Features
  • 1 Optimization to get found in search (SEO)

I have to share this hilarious event I attended over the weekend called "Mortified" by Radiotopia. It's also a podcast, Google it. Grown adults go on stage and read their real life diaries from when they were teenagers. Your stomach will get quite a workout from laughing out loud at max volume.

Anywho, onto this week's topics...

Three Things to delete from your About Page right now

#1 Years of Experience

👉This is where, "you're not as old as I look" comes in. 😲

Yes, I said delete your years of experience (to an extent). When you use a statement such as "33 years of experience", you are inadvertently portraying yourself as potentially outdated.

If I'm a 35-year-old and looking to hire someone in your niche and see 33 years of experience, I'm probably going to assume your ideas are outdated.

If, however, the phrase "20+ years of experience" were used, I would be under the impression that you are well seasoned in your niche and the thought of your being outdated will not likely be my first impression.

Do you see the difference? Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

#2 Long-Windedness

Your mom would be very interested in reading all four paragraphs of your bio, but website visitors are less likely to do so.

Breaking paragraphs into just sentence per paragraph allows the reader to easily skim through your About page and pick out the parts of interest.

More than three sentences in a paragraph is most definitely going to be skipped over and is exactly the example of a long-winded biography.

Read your bio. Really read it like you're a website visitor. Is it interesting or is it just full of facts.

Are you sharing HOW your degree will help your customers/clients or are you just sharing that you have that degree? Think "feature/benefit" with every line.

Do you see the difference in these examples?

BENEFIT DRIVEN: "As a content writer, a master's degree in journalism (benefit...) equips me with the experience to write compelling content for your website that resonates with your target audience and drives engagement.."

FEATURE DRIVEN: "Master's Degree in Journalism from Princeton."

#3 Jargon

Keep it simple! Not everyone speaks geek.

BEFORE: "Utilizing cutting edge AI algorithms, our platform employs machine learning techniques to optimize user experience and enhance data analytics."

AFTER: "We use advanced technology to improve how our platform works and better understand how people use it."

Two Cool New Kajabi Features

#1 Multiple Purchases of an Item

Do you offer something that your clients purchase more than one of such as a ticketed event or single coaching sessions?

This is your answer. Example of a checkout with this new feature >>

#2 Failed Subscription Payment Updates

If you're still offering payment plan (even though After Pay is an option now) or run a subscription offer, you likely have had failed payments.

Because of this, you may have set some automations in place such as "when subscription payment failed" then "send this email" or "revoke access".  That is no longer needed.

Rolling out very soon (you may already have it) is a new feature that automatically revokes access to the product upon payment failure, then automatically restores access once the successful payment has gone through.

This is available if you're using either Kajabi Payments or Stripe.

That said, do you have an automated email in place to go out if there is a failed payment?

Beta Features coming soon...

One Optimization to get found in search (SEO)

#1 Design content that Google WANTS to recommend

Of course you want your website to come up first in search, but what are you currently doing to make that happen?

Google is very clear in what they consider "good content".

Here's their checklist:

  • Do you have an existing or intended audience for your business or site that would find the content useful if they came directly to you?
  • Does your content clearly demonstrate first-hand expertise and a depth of knowledge?
  • Does your site have a primary purpose or focus?
  • After reading your content, will someone leave feeling they've learned enough about a topic to help achieve their goal?
  • Will someone reading your content leave feeling like they've had a satisfying experience?

What action steps are you going to take today to enhance your website visitor's experience?
