Kajabi Communities welcome message

New to Kajabi? Start here →

Kajabi Community allows you to host discussions, announcements, challenges, meetups, and live sessions inside your Kajabi ecosystem.

Unlike external community platforms, Kajabi Communities connect directly to your products through Access Groups. That connection controls who sees what and keeps your audience inside your branded environment.

Here is how the system works behind the scenes.

Adding Community Guidelines and a Welcome Message

You can require new members to accept guidelines before joining your Community.

To add guidelines:

  1. Open your Community.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner.

  3. Select Settings under the Community dropdown.

  4. Choose Details in the left sidebar.

  5. Scroll to the Community Guidelines section.

  6. Click Create Guideline.

  7. Add a title, image, and description.

  8. Save and return to the Community.

When members join, they will see a popup displaying your expectations before gaining access.

This is useful for outlining participation standards, moderation policies, or engagement rules.

How Members Access the Community

Members access your Community through an Access Group.

An Access Group functions as a product inside Kajabi. When someone purchases or is granted access to that product, the Community appears in their library alongside their other programs.

If a member belongs to multiple Access Groups connected to the same Community, they may see it listed more than once in their library. Access remains the same regardless of which entry they click.

Access Groups control visibility. Members only see content assigned to their specific Access Group.

What the Community Looks Like to Members

From a member’s perspective, the Community interface resembles the admin view with limited permissions.

Members can:

  • View posts within assigned Circles

  • Comment and engage

  • RSVP to meetups

  • Participate in challenges

  • Join live rooms

Members cannot:

  • Access Community Settings

  • View Circles assigned to other Access Groups

  • Edit administrative configurations

Content segmentation happens automatically based on Access Group assignment.

What Is a Circle in Kajabi?

A Circle is a segmented space within your Community.

Circles allow you to organize discussions by topic, program, cohort, or membership tier. Each Circle can function as either:

  • A feed-based discussion area

  • A chat-style conversation thread

You can assign Circles to specific Access Groups. Members only see the Circles connected to their assigned group.

If you delete an Access Group that contains Circles, those Circles remain in the Community. However, only the Community Admin can view them until reassigned.

This structure allows you to reuse and reorganize content as your offers evolve.

Understanding Community Notifications

Members control their own notification settings inside their profile under Settings > Notifications.

By default, members receive in-app, email, and mobile push notifications when:

  • They are mentioned directly or via @everyone

  • An announcement is posted or updated

  • A meetup they RSVP’d to is about to begin

  • A live room session starts (unless disabled by the host)

As the admin, you can toggle default email notifications by navigating to:

Community Settings > Customization > Send email notifications to members

This setting determines whether email alerts are enabled globally.

Community notification emails are sent from:

[email protected]

Email templates for Community notifications are currently not customizable.

The Community Feed Page

The Feed page displays posts from all Feed-type Circles in one central view.

Chat-style Circle messages do not appear in the global Feed.

When creating a post from the Feed page, you select the destination Circle using the “Select feed” option.

Feed posts can be sorted by:

  • Newest to oldest

  • Oldest to newest

  • Latest activity

You can adjust the Feed page by going to:

Community Settings > Navigation Menu

From there, you can:

  • Rename the Feed page

  • Make it the primary page

  • Hide it

  • Reorder it in navigation

The Right Sidebar Experience

On desktop screens of at least 768px width, Kajabi displays a right sidebar that highlights:

  • The three most recent announcements

  • Upcoming meetups

  • Active challenges

The sidebar appears only when at least one of these items is active.

It does not appear on smaller mobile screens.

The sidebar dynamically hides information related to the page currently being viewed. For example, if you are on the Meetups page, the sidebar will not repeat meetup listings.

Sidebar content is not customizable at this time.

When a Live Room is active, a notification appears in the sidebar indicating it is in use.

How Kajabi Community Fits Into Your Business Model

Kajabi Community integrates directly with your product ecosystem.

You can use it to:

  • Support course cohorts

  • Host paid memberships

  • Facilitate group coaching

  • Deliver challenges

  • Increase engagement between launches

Because it is tied to Access Groups, segmentation happens automatically based on purchase or enrollment.

This allows you to maintain structured access control without external tools.
